Homemade Toilet Bowl Cleaner

The traditional toilet bowl cleaners you can buy in the store contain toxic chemicals. In the U.S. 1 in 3 people suffer from asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and allergies. Our homes are filled with toxic and overly perfumed chemical cleaners. You can make your own toilet bowl cleaner that isn’t harmful to your family and is cheaper then the toilet bowl cleaners from the store.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

Ingredients:

Borax
Lemon Juice
Vinegar

You can either use either a combination of borax/lemon or borax/vinegar to clean your toilet bowl.

Borax & Lemon Juice

Pour 1 cup of Borax into a small bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of lemon juice over the Borax and gently stir with a spoon until it becomes a paste. Flush your toilet to wet the sides and then rub the paste onto the toilet with a new sponge or new toilet brush. (Purchase a new toilet brush and sponge because they shouldn’t have any residue from commercial toilet bowl cleaner to avoid a chemical reaction). Let it sit for 2 hours and then scrub thoroughly.

Borax & Vinegar

Flush the toilet to wet sides of bowl and then sprinkle a cup of Borax around the rim and sides of toilet. Spray 1/2 cup of vinegar over the Borax. Allow to sit for 2 hours or overnight, depending on how stained the toilet is. Scrub thoroughly with a new toilet brush. (Purchase a new toilet brush because it shouldn’t have any residue from commercial toilet bowl cleaner to avoid a chemical reaction.)
